When I look back at my favorite moments to date, I always remember 2 things: where I was and what I wore. I was surrounded by extraordinary women all of my life, like my mother who wore exotic prints and bold florals, and who proudly donned the classic Ao Dai (a traditional Vietnamese dress). From these strong women, I found unyielding strength and constant inspiration. I have always believed that a woman’s style is a direct expression of who she is, and in 2004 I moved to New York and adopted my sidekick, a loving & bold Yorkshire Terrier I named Yumi. It was at that moment that Yumi Kim was born.
Coveted for its sunny color combinations and array of florals, the brand reflects my love for travel, design, unique prints, and of course beautiful flowers. My greatest reward is knowing every woman who wears my designs feels like the best version of herself. That empowerment matters to me in all areas of our business, and I am proud to have created a company that is owned and run by women. Now, celebrating over a decade of design, I continue to grow and evolve. To wear Yumi Kim is to stand out, to view life as a colorful journey, and to be your own exciting and beautiful self.
